Seoul Day 30- Just hyehwa day and Guide to EMS

Guide to EMS:

EMS is like speed post with insurance. We used this service quite a few times in Korea and its available in SKKU too! We saw it in Seoul station Lotte Mart as well, but the rates are different!

In Seoul, there are EMS and another international shipping thats slower and no insurance but cheaper!

EMS Service from Korea to Singapore takes about 2-3days! Very efficient and fast! Within the 1 month in Seoul, Ive shipped back 3 boxes with a total weight of nearly 25kg!

I believe the people tending the counter do know how to speak English (simple ones) so no fret.

The slightly bulk size guy in SKKU EMS seriously suffering from PMS... he is just weird... he is super temperamental! eg;

I: 영어를 할 수 있습니까?
him: Do I look like I cant speak English? (In a not too fluent manner)
I: oh! haha thats great!
I: so (insert my question which Ive already forgotten what I asked)
Him: (inserts his answer in a helpful way)

Look here, Im not saying he cant speak english... Cos of the many teenagers whom I approach, other than those in SKKU, only a few can speak English!

If you are strong enough, or have friends to help, you can lug your items in plastic bags up the hill to the 600th annivesary hall EMS Office.

1) Get to the counter for EMS Service, tell the person that you wanna send things home via EMS. he/she will give you a piece of EMS paper. Fill it in.

Details needed:
-Korea address (Dont have to be in Hangul)
-Korea phone number
-Home address
-Home phone number/mobile number (Contact person back at home)
-items that you are sending e.g. Books, Clothes, Bags, Cosmetics
-the weight of the items e.g. Books about 5kg, Clothes about 5kg
-Price of the items e.g. Books about 40,000won, cosmetics about 100,000won (Im not too sure why this is needed though... some says its for tax surcharge, some says its for insurance in case the box gets lost or undelivered)
-your signature

2) Buy an EMS box (Below is the rates, size and numbering of the boxes)
e.g. Number 1 box - 400won about 0.40cents - 22.0 cm to 19.0 cm to 9.0 cm

I think, other boxes can do as well! Like those free boxes in Lotte Mart!

3) Box given will not be folded... that means, you have to fold the box yourself! But the folding lines are provided!

HOW TO FOLD/TAPE?
- Fold into a cuboid
- close the bottom cover/flaps
- use the scotch-tape provided and tape it securely as it serves as the base for your bulky items... you dont want it to be too loose nor slipshod work to see your items dropping out of the box
- place your item inside the box
- squeeze it/place items strategically
- cover the top flap and scotch-tape it
- scotch tape around the box

END PRODUCT!

4) Pass your box and paper to the counter.

They will help you weigh the box, and you should see the weight of your box and the price you have to pay for both the weight and the box itself.

You should get a receipt and a copy of the EMS paper.

5) Say An Nyeong to your box!

We went to my lovely chicken turn turn shop for lunch! We indulge in Chimaek! Chicken and soju! hehehheheh soju is pretty bitter! only manage to drink 2 shots... I think we bought the soju at 3000won... but it costs 1000won plus at convenience mart only!

Then... wenjing and I went to have their MELONA Icecream! looks like Singapore version of potong icecream BUT this is so soft!!! Its available in Singapore! Find it in Fairprice 6.15sgd for 8sticks! and it costs 1 stick for 1dollar in Ssikkek!

Walao phone wrong focus la dey =.= anyway, we sat inside the convenience shop to eat!

For night time dessert, we had this! In Paris Croissant!

And below is the shop near Hyehwa exit 4! beside New Balance shop along the main road! A pretty nice patbingsoo shop! the ice is really like a snow...

Seoul Day 25- Hyehwa Fruity Day!

Reason for this title is that... in Korea, fruits are super expensive!!!

The yakult or Yogurt is super cheap! and smaller than the one in Singapore. its not exactly yakult or vitagen, but its something like that! 1300won for 5 bottles! thats like a bottle for less than sgd20cents?

the place where I had my class! B2! the level where this photo was taken is Level 1! the super small black tee guy u see at the end is the level i had my class! and that area is where the guys smoke lol

we are penning our messages on the free postcard to be mailed back free to Singapore!

the wrapped box u see above contains a tumbler! thats skku tumbler! and I got that cos I exchange one of my tour ticket into this bottle.

How this work: you have 3 tours! so u will have 3 tickets! First, gyeong bok palace, museum and nanta. Second, to national folk museum and taekwondo performance. Lastly, to mud festival. NO LOTTE WORLD FOR MY BATCH. >:(

So i exchanged the mud festival ticket for the bottle cos Im not interested in the mud fest... supposed to be a fun activity and rare opportunity for tourist! but then... its kinda dirty and dangerous

Anyway, later during the mud festival day that we got to know due to the heavy rain mud festival was cancelled and students who went were brought to lotte world instead! good and bad! hahah some actually prefer mud festival! some already went lotte world (like my friends did, so they went twice) so its abit sian for them

and... we went to tour the old compound again! HAHAHHA

afterwhich we went to the underground mart near school! near olive young, to get some grocery! and watermelon!!! they charge us for using their plastic bag... so we brought our own! who knows we purchased too many things! and watermelon cant fit in! and... it was raining... so I had to hug the watermelon like a little baby and handcarry the plastic bags and holding onto the umbrella...

too much for me and wenjing! so we shared with neighbours!

Later in the day, before korean class, we packed things to be shipped back to singapore!

Xiuhui super experienced! hahaha so we learnt from her!

WJ and I skipped our korean lesson! hehhehee we went out to have our pancake craving settled!

Kimchi and seafood pancake! I prefer the seafood to normal to kimchi pancake!

and 2 pancakes seriously too much for the both of us... we tabao the kimchi pancake leftover home! (takeaway no charges!)

free service!! steamed egg! so nice!!!!!!

after that, we passed by the new balance outlet in hyehwa!
As my sport shoes were spoilt, I thought of getting another one in korea since its cheaper than in singapore! but still I was caught in a dilemma as to getting it or not... and which to get... hahahahha

I entered the store so many times (in different days) that I actually feel the store assistant knows me! LOL

In the end, I got a pair of shoes from new balance! the design is neither of those above lol! for 90,000won! Hyehwa outlet does not have the receipt for airport tax refund. so they will refund u on the spot which is good! save the hassle!

We head to MangoSix for some patbingboo!! hahaha

mangosix's mango is so much better than the tous les jours!
